What preferences do you have for rod and/or reel when vertical jigging?

Do a search, this topic has been beat to death every spring. St. Croix 60MF Legend Elite with a Shimano Stradic 2000 spooled with 15/2 Cabelas Ripcord SI works great for almost all my Detroit River work.

Capt. Paul...Thanks for the post. I am new to the board and didn't realize this was such a popular topic in the past. I appreciate your input and will look at previous posts:)

And, truthfully, we’re a little short of information with that question.
How deep? What weight jig? What do you tip your jigs with? What type of bottom? Etc…
That being said…
My go-to rod is a Shikari SHX SJ661 with titanium framed Silicon Carbide guides. 6’6”, 1-power, rated for 1/16 – 5/16 ounces. I’ve got a size 2000 Shimano Biomaster spooled with 6 pound Fireline on it.
My secondary rod is a SHX SJ662 with TiSiC guides. Rated for 1/8 – 3/8 ounces. Biomaster 2500 spooled with 10 pound Fireline.

Talk to the boys at Thorne Bros. Can't go wrong with a custom and they can fix anything.

I have great success with my Okuma Guide Select 6'6" ml with an Okuma Epixor 20 reel. This is a very balanced outfit and will not break the bank. Excellent setup for jigging under 5/8 oz. otherwise consider a Med action Guide Select. Power Pro 15x4 Hi Vis is the only line I use for jigging.

6'3"MLXF St. Crois, in legend elite, or legend tournament blank, with a Garcia 700U reel. Pink Fireline is my line of choice, easy to see, and tough stuff. Makes an awesome vertical jig stick!!!
