Made a trip to cabelas hoping to pick up some large size smile blades. Didn't see any till i hit the bargain cave and i found a pack of 15 to 20 but they were one of the two smaller sizes. I have been catching most of my fish in stained water on the large ones. Has anyone tried to use two of the smaller blades on one harness with beads in between and if they have does this cause to much twist in the line? I thought perhaps i could peg a bead above the first blade so it doesn't ride down on the first blade and keep it from turning then just add a couple of more beads and another smaller smile blade. Any ideas whu this wouldn't work? Thanks dave

When it comes to spinner blades, smile blades are all I use. I make all my own. I order all my components direct from Mack's Lures. I have expermented with the tandem set up with limited sucess. I think what is happening is the lead smile blade is creating turbulence and the trailing blade is not revolving properly. I use mainly the 1.5" blades and also the largest which is 1.9". The larger the blade the slower you can troll. I try to run about .4 to .6 mph. If you order from Mack's Lures you will probably get a catologue with yur order. It shows all the different smile blade set ups. They also have a web site http://www.macklure.com

Dave,
If you snap a Smile blade on to the end of a stacker bead (I use a hole punch to open up the hole a little), the Blade/bead will spin freely on the line without tipping over. This will allow the blade to spin much better at slower speeds.
We just added the full line of Macks Lures blades, I to have had very good luck using these blades.
Good luck,

Ed: I tried to get into your web site section on macks lures but my computer at home said that file wouldn't download. I'll try it from work on tuesday. Thank you fellows for your replies.
I really haven't messed with these blades at all. I've just strung them on and was amazed at how much my rod tip vibrates with them on. I'm assuming if i bend them shut a little bit i will get a faster spin but less throbing? Wish i would have thought of the idea. At least at slow speeds i know these blades are turning.

Dave,
It appears that our website is down.
It should be back up soon.
Thanks

answered my own question this weekend. rigged up 2 small size blades between some small beads. for one day only at least most of the fish were caught on these small ones. both blades seemed to spin well at less than one mile an hour. will have to experiment some more but so far so good
