Any recommendations for sonar on a portable box for fly-in's. Was thinking on the hummingbird 565 which installs on their portable box. Liked the pixel count and had temp. on the transducer.
Thanks

I had used a FishEagle2 for several years and was for the most part happy with it. But it doesnt compare to a high resolution screen so-
This year I built my own. I felt I needed a "BETTER" portable more often since I go to Canada and also fish from several smaller boats from time to time so I built one using my Lowrance 102c along with- A Pelican 1300 Water Proof Box with foam padding, a Ram mini mount, Cabelas Rechargeable battery and portable transducer bracket to mount the transducer on. It was simple to put together and maybe "cheaper" in the long run if you don't already have a portable. The Pelican box can be purchased on E-bay for about $35. These boxes are amazingly durable and I use it to store my 102c in, even when I don't use it as my portable. Basicly you mount a Ram Mount on the lid, run power wires through the top which I used a waterproof grommet (I used a older power wire connector from an old Eagle unit I wasnt using) run the correct fuse inline to the battery which fits inside the box, mount the Unit on the Ram mount, connect the transducer and slide it onto any transom. I think total I have less then $100 NOT including the Lowrance 102c which I already was using on my main boat. Thats cheaper then buying a B/W Portable fishfinder.
How does it work?.... AWESOME!
