Going on a fishing charter on Erie next week.Usually we drift and cast, guy won't troll with gas this high for sure.Use the weapon most of the time with crawlers.Any advice on line color/type would be appreciated.Tried green trilene mono last year ,got skunked.Thought it would be invisible in the clear water.Go back to regular 8 lb trilene? Thanks in advance.

I seriously doubt that your fishing line had anything to do with your lack of success. You should be able to catch SOME fish with about any line. Most likely it was just one of those bad days. It happens!
If I agree with you, then we'd both be wrong.

I hear you.I was the only one that used type, others did better.Thought there might be something to it.
I would try using a hammered gold blade # 3 or # 4 when using a weapon set up. If the lake has a good drift it has worked very well for me so far this year. I have also added a small piece of red prism tape to the blade. Worked great last year too.
Good luck.

We also had a great day -- gold blades, red beads :-) Big Indiana hammered worked best for us.
I also agree with Airwave, I doubt very much if line color made a difference. I always use flame Fireline and I've never thought it hurt me.

Yeah but you you drove a pink truck for several years too...
:+ :rotfl: then again you've been whacking the fish with your patriotic red white and blue door on your van so maybe color DOES make a difference... :rock-on:
Sorry I couldn't help myself - can only look forward to a great response in the near future I'm sure...

Just when I was starting to think you weren't too bad a guy. Shows you how wrong a guy can be :-)
Actually several people have commented on how different my blue van looks with that red door. The white sign on the red door only adds character, or so some say...... Others say I look like one of Jeff Foxworthy's targets hmmmmmmmmmmm!

You guys crack me up! :-)
I'd guess that if others were having (substantially) more success it has something to do with your retrieve. Either too fast (too high) or too slow (too deep). Just a guess.

Dan D. Learn what fishing the SWING is. It's a very effective technic. A must for casters.I fished both Monday & Tues. casting Gold harnesses. Boxed 42 Monday and 36 Tues. Short day on Tues. guys had to leave
