I posted this question in the General Discussion so I would not "interupt" the walleye board but I got no takers. When is a good time to make the trip from Toledo to go Steelhead fishing? Just looking for a little break from Walleye but do not want to make the trip if there is a "season" for Steelies. Thanks for any input.

The steelhead bite is usually going strong in Lorain around July 4...sometimes a week or so earlier. The fish hold in this area for about one month, again give or take a week.

Thanks Hawk Eye. I am really looking forward to watching them dance along the top of the water on the end of my line!

Marc,
Nice to hear from you again. I thought it was just a matter of time before you replied to my post. The earliest I can head that way is next weekend. I got drill this weekend. Were you looking at doing an overnighter or day trip? Keep me posted and I am game for next weekend.
