I have 2 berkley gary roach lightning rods expandable 7'10" med action. with okuma convector 20's, I really like these rods , use them for pulling boards, deep divers and I B/B with them as well.
I'm pretty new to dipsys so my question is should I buy seperate rods for the dipsys or will these roach rods do the trick.
Cheers,

They'll work just fine.
How are those rods? I checked one out and couldn't get it to keep from collapsing unless I wrenched on it pretty hard. I was planning on getting a pair for pulling dipsies and boards before that.

I've used the GR trolling rods for trolling boards before and IMO I wouldn't use them to pull dipseys. The GR trolling rods are graphite. The tip section is pretty fast and overall the rod is probably better suited for longlining or in-line boards. A rod made from glass or composite is generally better suited to the rigors that a dipsey rod goes through. Lots of good choices out there foar as little as $25/ea. Diawa, Okuma, Shimano all make rods that work well for dipseys in this price range.

The roach rods are great and I've never had one collapse on me while fishing.
