Does anybody know what the black plastic tab on the back of the Offshore boards are used for:
1 - keep foam insert secured?
2 - help store tattle flag when not used?
3 - used as a keel?
Just curious, thanks.

keep the foam in place is my guess.
I have some sst boards (the orange ones) and they have no flag and still have the tab.

I had a set of off shore boards back in the early 90s that did not have these tabs on them. The foam behind the boards was not the closed cell type foam now used. These old boards would have the foam fall out and the board would flip over and cause all kinds of problems.
Shortly there after I called Off Shore and they knew about the issue, sent me the new foam and the tabs and that was an easy fix. They have worked flawlessly since. I think I have 4 sets of these boards now....why I don't know?
