Of the various attractants on the market that are sprayed or otherwise applied on crankbaits and plastic, which scent would you say has brought you the most success?

Well, hard question. I guess in a way that spray stuff worked for me because it helped my confidence a long time ago, but I havent used it in over 10 years, and still caught a heck of a lot of fish.
I do think the Berkly power baits do work though. I have had great luck with them.

I think more than anything else it covers up any repelling scents we may accidentally put on our lures like tobacco, petroleum products, bug repellants etc.

Try COD LIVER OIL, you can buy it at any drug store. This is the best stuff I have ever used for scent. You can even put it on your minnows and it won't kill them. Also, don't laugh until you try it. I laughed when an old guy told me that is what he kept dipping his bait in. The old guy was outfishing everyone.
GOOD LUCK

I agree with Reels-the Berkley Power Baits seem to work well. I also use salt impregnated tails as well (can't remeber who makes them.) Riverside also has new plastics with the Yum attractant which I'm sure I'll be trying soon. Sometimes I use Anise oil. Seems to be a big secret in some parts.

Thanks for all the responses guys...this is GREAT!
What about the scents like Garlic, Crawfish, Anise, Minnow etc..
How do they compare? Is there any one scent responsible for more success?
Thanks again,
Sebastian

I have used them with quite the success at times in comparison to those without. Years ago wd 40 just out produced the other baits.

dw 40 use to be an old standby because the old stuff use to contain Shark oils. The new stuff does not contain these oils. Don't know if the new stuff works as well as the other. Just a quick thought

Yes .. on a Ice-out/cold water slow Glide & Tap Jig-bite, I use Fish Forumla II Shad .. without the scent you'd need a stinger, with it they inhale it.

I personnally love the banana smell of the twister tails, not sure if they catch fish, or they just get fished alot:)
Good call Jim,
I've always enjoyed opening a new pack of twister tails...

Never really had Good luck with any attractant than berkely power bait. Gotta admit though that i havent really tried much else i will say though that the berkely power bait seemed to work when absolutely nothing else did. Having trouble getting good solid strikes or just looking to improve catch rate?
