I've been invited to spend the July 4th weekend on a cabin on Woman Lake near Walker, MN. I'm sure the kids will want to try some fishing. I've never spent any time on the lake fishing, so I can use some help. Any tips, techniques, or locations on finding and catching sunnies or walleyes would be appreciated.

July 4th weekend + Woman lake = Jet ski ####.
Sunnies and small bass are everywhere weeds are. If you really want to target walleyes, scope out a shoreline trolling run during the day and hit it after dark. Rocky shorlines with rock to sand transition, outside weed lines, tip of a dock to the next one and so on. Punch in your waypoints and routes during the day and you are set. Water clarity is a little down this year, but still pretty clean. Target the 8-10 foot depths with a #5 or #7 shad rap.
The 2 humps out from the public access are alway worth a check. Jig and minnow or liny riggin.

That's what I was looking for - thanks for the help!
I was there a couple of years ago and I do remember the lake was pretty active during the day. Then towards dark I saw more fisherman come out.
I'll be on the point of land right when you start going into Lantern Bay. Looks like an island to the southwest of there - looks like a spot to try at night.

I would add the following... be willing to put in a very late night. Rain or shine, moon or dark, the lake tends to empty of fishing boats around 11:00 PM. I have had much of my best Woman Lake fishing between 11:00 PM and 3:00 AM.
I had some stuff that had been working pretty well over the last few years but I have had a rough go at it this year.

What's the bait of choice - leeches, worms, shiners, or artificials?

Fish the island for smallies. Use a tube and fish slow. Dad caught a 5 lb smallie and 3 lb off the island. Again, fish slow.
Largemouth on topwater worked well in Lantern Bay also.
Good luck,
