Many years ago, I lived at Devils Lake, ND. I commonly caught walleye on spinnerbaits, but the lures were usually only the 1/4 ounce size. My little daughters bought Dad a large, bubblegum colored spinnerbait for Father's Day, and it was actually a very good walleye lure.

Caught a 5 pounder last week while fishin a Bubble Gum Colored Colorado Blade Spinner Bait. The fish hit in 30 feet of water one inch below the surface on the top of some submerged tree limbs. Caught a 3 pounder 2 weeks ago in the exact same conditions on the exact some lure.. Go Figure.

In cabbage---- 1/4 oz. Double Colorado Nickel blades and silver/grey skirt. It works regularly on our clear water. <;{{{{{{<<( Mr.Pike

Basic 1/4-1/2 white double silver spin or black double spin. Slow roll em this time of year. I like to put a large chartruse Mr. twister tail on the hook, it slows it down and adds weight to hold it down along the bottom. works good in 6-8ft. or on humps and rock piles or wood.

While working shoreline for bass last summer, I caught a 7 lb walleye on a white spinnerbait with twin willow blades. Often get northerns doing this, but a good sized walleye was unexpected.
One of my best hours was spent cathing walleye's on spinnerbaits. We were board, it was hot so we decided to see if there were any big northern in a shallow bay. We moved in with the boat to the back of the bay and began to cast about the fifth or sixth cast I had a good fish on, of course thought it was a northern but turned out to be a 3 pound walleye. My friend put on the same red and white spinner bait and within an hour we had caught and released six walleye over 5 pounds and several between 2-5 pounds. The fun part was that we were using ultra-lite rods and thin line, couldn't have been better. Since then we've only caught a few on spinner baits, usually red and white or black with silver blades.

When I was a kid living at home, we would go on vacation yearly to some place accessible by the 401 in Ontario. One year we stayed at Pigeon lake. We caught a lot of walleyes with short arm spinner baits letting them fall in the pockets of weedbeds. In fact we caught them all week doing this. Made for nice shore lunches. I think it would work in any weed bed type lake. Those pockets can really hold some nice fish, of all kinds.

recently i came into a couple boxes of old outdoor mags.as far back as the late 60's.you would be surprized at the differences in lures and tehniques back then.one thing they all had in common was the spinner rig.it was the hot lure for eye's back then.i have employed alot of those old techniques and have been impressed by the results.1 that i found by accident(meaning my little guy came up with it)was a 4-6in.rubber lizard on a small bettle spinner.his first fish was a 5 lb. and took alot of bass also.trying different rubber baits has paid off and lake michigan eye's and northerns love them. And the smallies god the smallies.try it some time!!!!! longrifle
