I'm trying to decide on a kicker motor that also will be used on a rowboat.Do I need a longshaft motor. The rowboat only has a 15" transom also trying to decide 15hp or 9.9 any suggestions would be appreciated. When used as a kicker it will be mounted on a aux motor bracket.

I won't recommend a motor but I will recommend NOT buying a certain motor. I just bought a brand new 4 horse Mercury kicker last Summer and it is made by Nissan...the worst piece of junk I have ever owned ..hard starting,rough running crap.After fighting with the dealer, they decided to replace the whole block. Advice...if you buy a kicker, make sure it is made by Mercury not Nissan.
