I have the Navionics Premium North chip and I am wondering if there is problems with that chip on LOTW? I may get up there next year and I don't want to find out of map problems when I get there. Below is something I took off another board and the reason I am asking...

".......have the Navionics Premium North chip. I can run it in Wisconsin without any problems. I went up to Lake of the Woods and the map didn't show any detail. All the islands looked like blobs. It showed all the buoys, but no detail. Is there something I need to change in the menus or settings, etc.? I have a Lowrance 104C. I attempted to change "something" in the "map" page and now it just locks up and eventually restarts the unit. I didn't know if there was a different "region" I needed to select. Like I said, it works great for the Wisconsin lakes. Thank for any help!...."

" .......had the same problem with the Premium North chip and found out that the problem is with the chip itself. I returned mine directly to Navionics and they promptly sent out a replacement that worked. They gave me the option of sending mine back and waiting for the replacement, or sending the replacement immediately and billing my credit card issuing a credit (not including shipping charges) when they received the defective one.
Anyone buying this chip that intends to use it on Lake of the Woods should try it to make sure that it works in their GPS unit. I know of at least two people that had the same problem. One of them took it back to the retailer where they purchased it and tried several of the chips from their stock and none of them worked.
Sorry to break the bad news. It's a great tool, though, once you get a chip that works....."

Was up to LOTW two weeks ago and my Navionics Hotmaps Premium Gold
chip did not show any detail. Using it in a Lowrance Global 7600 C HD.
So I called Lowrance from out on the lake, and they told me Navionics
was having trouble with that chip.

Called Navionics when I got home, and sure enough, they said to send
it in, and they would send me a new one. Just arrived today, and heading back to LOTW on Thursday. Working good in the garage, hope it works when I get there.

I would tend to agree with the Lakemaster Chip theory if you fish LOTW a lot and on the U.S. side. It has all the detail on every reef.

J.C. where are you fishing out of. I'm heading up either Thursday night, or Friday morning. My wife decided to bail on me due to work, and baby being really fussy issues. My dad and stepmom will get up their late on Friday so I'll fish with them on Saturday, Sunday. I'll probably be fishing alone on Friday though and I hate that! I'll be staying at Adrian's but we have a slip for the boat at Borderview. I generally run the same channel as Adrian's does which if I remember right is 81 on the marine band.

I just got back from Salmon Fishing the first time on Lake Michigan out of Door County so a lot of new information is running through my head. I can't begin to say how much fun that was.

Hines, stay at the Sportsman's, put the boat in at Long Point resort, saves some miles from coming out of the Gap. Fishing reefs over on the border was real good, ( Knight, Briges ) with nightcrawlers and hammer gold spinners.
I also downrig, and did good that way also.
All the reefs up around Garden Island were producing fish.

Was out to Lake Michigan salmon fishing over the 4th of July weekend.
Went out of Kewaunee, and did excellent. Heading back out there the 2nd week of Aug.
Getting hooked on the salmon fishing, and it's not that far to drive like it is to LOTW.

We've got a slip for the season at Borderview, and leave our R.V.'s up at Adrians for the season. Works out pretty slick. Depending on weather I might launch the boat from somewhere else. I always have to deal with the fact that my step mom doesn't want to go much further than Pine Island or the gap when they are up. Even when the weather is finally nice and you can run the whole lake for a day I have to deal with this. She doesn't like to use downriggers much, and doesn't like to fish the rocks. It's a challenge for me at times to say the least.

She wanted to know if anyone else was fishing like normal for the salmon cause "yuck downrigging". Since we we're fishing with 110 feet of cable out in about 130 to 160 feet of water I explained that a live bait presentation really doesn't work for salmon.

I do have to admit that I like the Sportsmans new webcam. My brother and I have it up during the day pretty regularly. From the report I read from Sportsman's it sounds like Rock reefs, or downrigging in 30 to 35 feet of water.
