: Walleye as a tournament fish

I suppose the good Lord has a sense of humor and arranged for me to live where I could only read about being a Bass Tournament fisherman. Since I can't do that and I am living closer to Walleye tournament territory, I want to give it a good shot. My question is.....probably dumb....but hey I am a Canuck, so please humor me. What makes a Walleye a better tournament fish than say Pike, or some of the other species? What do you guys like about fishing them?
Hopefully this isn't redundant, I did check through quite a few pages before I posted this. Thanks!....Kerry in Beaumont, Alberta.

One word sums it up for me.....Elusive!!! About the time you have them patterned and figured out they change...Good tournament fisherman can attest to this... They are challenging for sure..

Hi Rabbit, thanks for the answer. I have found the same thing and I am no pro. Once you find them and figure what they like best, there is a certain satisfaction in catching them....where I can keep a few for dinner, it is a good thing as well...Kerry
