I just got into trolling line counters, and put new fireline 10 lb on. I also use the Precision Trolling Book where it tells you how far out your line needs to be in order to get to a curtain depth. In the book, if I would put out 45 yards of regular 10 lb line I'd be at 8 feet deep, but with 10 fireline it says I'll be at 10 feet deep.
Now one of my buddies that trolls alot says thats B.S., and that won't happen. He says both will go close to the same depth. Just seeing if any one who trolls can give a little insite on this.
Thanks

The finer Fireline will definatly allow any lure to get deeper. It wil also open up the action, and the near zero stretch will make the tip vibrate even if you run a board.

Check out the section on lure tuning and get every lure right on. The book does you no good if you don't propperly tune your lures.

also make sure that the counter is actually reading the correct amount of line out by checking it against a measured distance.

No offense and no disrespect meant to your buddy, but he doesn't use "the" book or troll as much as he claims to.

Anyone that has used both fireline and mono know that there is a difference, especially in the lighter versions of braided line.

Once again, after many years of using the Precision Trolling book it played a key role in catching some great fish up at Keyhole Reservoir last week when the fishing was, at best, tough for everyone else.
