I was wondering if anybody could tell me how much Fireline 10-4 it would take to put one of those new deep tail dancers down to 30 feet.
Also what speed seems to be necessary. Thanks in advance...

Redtail,
This is a WAG. I'd say 125' of line (10/4 Fireline). Minimum speed to achieve maximum depth about .8 MPH

Based on PT conversion and that the curve below is for 10# dia - 100' ft will get you 29' with 4lb dia.
I'm pretty sure this is for 10# dia:
20 back = 10ft
60 back = 17ft
100 back = 23ft
160 back = 28ft
200 back = 29ft
what is PT conversion and how do you figure it ?

The PT (Precision Trolling Book) has depth curves based on 10# XT. If people use a different diameter line or Fireline, there is a conversion table to use to determine the new depth curve. 10/4 Fireline is much smaller diameter than 10 XT, that you can gain some depth or let less line out.
There is no reall calculation, it was put together by trial and error by the PT crew.
