Start w/ what I believe is called a spider hitch at the end of the superline which effectively doubles the thickness - then tie the back to back uni-knots to join your tippet material to the superline. Doing so gives the mono more to bite onto. I read that 1-6 or 2-10 Fireline is so thin that there was a concern was too thin in a single strand to make a good knot with the mono. The spider hitch portion only takes a few seconds to add and seems like a good idea to me. Ithink these knots may actually eb on the packing material in the fireline box. If knot:-), maybe they should be.
I like the Albright knot. You can find it on google.com where it is explained on several sites. You need to be careful snugging it down, but you also need to do that with the back to back uni.
Thanks for your help, guys!
I'm just switching to Fireline (late learner), and I knew from reading various articles and prior posts on this site, that you had to start with mono on the reel. I just couldn't remember what was recommended for the joining knot.
