what lure is this???

Does any one know this lure... "Rapala deep diving magnum" it's about 4 1/2" long inc.the bill, and has rattles. Sort of looks like a "fat rap"( maby it is?) What is the full/ real name. will dive to ??( trolling) Any one?? Thanks.

Can you provide a picture?
Is the bill a metal one attatched to the lure or is it molded plastic inserted into the lure like the ones we are all familiar with. Years ago (10 or so) Rapala had a "magnum" line that had a metal bill attatched (riveted) to the lure. Is it possible it is that old and from that particular model line?

I am 90% sure the lure you are describing is a DOWN DEEP RATTLIN FAT RAP. Was one of our favorite baits when my wife and I first started trolling western Erie six years ago. We would set the outside lines, then cast one or two of the fat raps right right off of the stern. They worked great on the Eyes. Firetiger or chrome and blue.

I have a correction on what I posted last night. The correct name of the bait is Down Deep Rattlin' Fat Rap.This bait should have a plastic bill. Depths are as follows, 50ft.=18ft.down.100ft=24ft.150ft.=26ft.max.depth on 10lb.Trilene XT is 30ft.at 260ft.back. Hope this answers your Question.
