Lol.....Lake Pepin is a walleye factory - both soft and hard water. The schools of walleye do roam a little but not so bad that you are chasing them around the lake. They tend to hold on the larger structures and the number of fish houses will show you where they are. Don't foget those smaller structures that you found in late fall....usually the bigger ladies like these isolated points/structures.
I'm a jig/minnow man follwed by a jigging rap...although last year I was surprised at the numbers that I took with a swedish pimple!!!

If you don't have success at Red Wing, you better check to see if you have line on the reel!!! I can't handle the boat-to-boat traffic that this area receives. Lake Pepin is great but there are other areas on the river that are more secretive and would give Red Wing a run for its money!!! Start by the Alma dam and work all the way down to Minnieska......some of the best days of fishing have been on this stretch.
Bass Camp.....ouch, this one is hard to give up. My biggest fish through the ice came out of this area - 9.75 pounds. A lot of 2 to 3 pounders every day..............
Too many areas....too secretive....too little time!!!!
