Depends what time of year you want to fish. Spring and fall is west basin, summer is east basin.

For Ohio waters Highly recommend:
Rich Stedke - Shifless - 32 Marinette - moves boat based on time of year - spring West Harbor near Port Clinton / Catawba, summer Lorain, fall Vermilion. 419 234 3707 cell phone.

Keith Unkepher - Pooh Bear - 42 Viking - spring & summer West Harbor, fall Vermilion. 419 341 2506 cell phone.

Both Captains are widely regarded as top notch Erie Captains. If they can't accomodate you directly, they will be able to set you up with another Captain that will do good job for you. They should be able to recommend lodging based on when the trip takes place. Tell either of them I referred you.

I'm Rich Stedke's brother Jim, so instead of me telling you how great he is, please contact Denny Braun Sportsman's Outpost in Vermilion 1 888 855 9032, or Craig Lewis at Erie Outfitters 1 440 949 8934, and get their unbiased opionions. These guys are tackle shop owners who have reputations of steering folks straight.

I would recommend Capt. Rich Laird our of Wild Wings Marina for both a great fishing trip and top notch housing. Rich runs two boats out of Wild Wings Marina in the heart of the reef complex and has lodging available in his Pine Creek Lodge which is less than a mile from his boats. That way you can take care of the charter and lodging in a one-call books all deal. Besides that he's a great guy :-)
The lodge is great with a lot of privacy and a large rec room, complete with POKER table, individual sleeping arrangements, kitchen facilites and a great deck.
I'm a good friend of Rich's and run charters with him so if you want references call the Happy Hooker Bait Shop - 419 898-9676 or I can give you a list of very satisfide customers if you would like.
Call Rich at (260) 417-4706, he will take care of you.

Rich Laird would also do a fine job with the charter and lodging.

If like me you enjoy fishing the warmth of summer look at the east basin. Summer time puts those migrating hog walleye right in the middle of the east basin and NY State.

In Dunkirk NY Capt Dan Dietzen of Sea Cin Charters is the best on NY waters. He keeps his boat docked at Chadwick Bay the docks connect right up to the Ramada Inn.

Another great charter is Capt. Bud Marsh of Alibi Charters for Dunkirk or nearby ports.

Here is info on both...
Dietzen, Dan -- Sea Cin Sportfishing, P.O. Box 412, Fredonia, NY 14063; 716-672-5868

Marsh, Bud -- Alibi Sportfishing, P.O. Box 655, Bocton, NY 14716; 716-792-4805

Another option is to stay in Niagara Falls, Ontario and get a charter out of Port Colborne (20 miles away). Gives you some extra-curricular activities as well.
