Is there any way to do this? On another site someone said if you download a lowrance emulator and then put the chip into the lowrance card reader it would work. Then said don't do it-it earased the chip then said it din't erase the chip , but never said if it would work. Any thought on this? I would like to study my chip over the winter.

You can read it on the emulator, BUT you have to have a certain LEI card reader.

Do you happen to know which LEI reader. I have an LEI reader-I don't see any model #. It says Lei mmc/sd card reader.

We tried to figure that out on another post. No way to tell for sure unless you try it. Mine works and is the LEI MMC/SD CARD READER, off-white in color, and came with the MapCreate 6 package.
Don't worry, your card isn't going to erease by just sticking it in the reader and trying.

From Lowrance:
Thank you for your inquiry. No, it will not damage the card. The emulator will read the files in the same way that your unit does. And, you will need to select the Navionics files in the Map Data settings on the emulator just as you would with the unit. As long as that's all you are doing and not trying to load additional information to the card, it will be fine.
Please feel free to contact us if we may be of further assistance.
Thank you for Choosing Lowrance Electronics

Like terror said it depends on the card reader. I have a generic PNY sd card reader. It wont work. But it will read and write to my blank sd card that I use for waypoints, mapcreate base maps, etc in my unit just fine.
