Guys and gals, let's here about your most productive crankbaits for last season. Mine are the deep litter ripper in purple prism & eriedescent and the #7 glass shad raps in purple, blue & white.

Depends on where I am fishing.

But....jointed Shad Raps are good for me.

We had good luck with #7 & #8 Raps(perch, clown, and hot steel) in the spring and summer. Then we switched to deep little rippers and ripshads(gold and silver clown) for late summer. Any bright colored Reef Runner worked well in the fall.

Jointed Shad Raps for me, but I did try the spoon thing on Erie for the first time this year as well (more stuff for the tackle box)..

Jointed shad raps, suspending rogues, and 400 series ripshads were the best by far. Two of each for a 6 rod set up and go with what ever starts working first. Fire tiger and black and chrome were the best colors.

I learned a little bit more about crank baits this summer.

Early this year, the Scheels exclusive Goldfish Shad Rap was incredible. It worked the best in darker water, the stained stuff, but was great in muddy conditions as well. Typical spring conditions.

Mid-summer, I found that walleye really are canabalistic creatures as I couldn't keep em off walleye colored anything.

In the fall, white produced all of my large fish. This was unusual because Devils Lake is typically a perch colored lake.

Just goes to show, things change so we have to keep up.

My go to crankbait this year was definetly either a Bass Pro Static Shad (black/silver) or (blue/silver) and then late in the year i had a prototype of the Dave's Kaboom Ruff Guy which will come out soon. Both these baits are great.

Thanks and a big thank YOU because I kept a few of those big Shad Raps for myself out of that order and the big pearls were the ticket this year for the eyes. Last year it was #5's. This year, it was 7's or bigger. Even hooked a few 40"+ muskie on the #8 and #9 pearls.

Shad Raps here. I don't recall seeing a pearl Risto either. Any crank has the potential to be pearl though. ;)

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the original floating Rapala. I like #9 and #11 and a particular #9 floater was my best producing crankbait of 2005. I think these still have a place in ones tackle box for use over the tops of weedbeds, especially after dark on a moonlit night. I do qualify this in one way: when fishing for 'eyes I routinely add a #5 or #7 split shot about 3' ahead of the bait. On the Saturday back in October just before the full moon which was coming on Monday, fished with a friend who tried several different crankbaits as well as live bait rigs, minnows and crawlers. My #9 original floating Rap caught the only walleyes that night fishing a walleye lake in Indiana. Had to get my friend one of these for Christmas. We both had put #7 shadraps out earlier and the shadraps were good for a nice white bass but no walleyes. I won't be throwing out my original floaters anytime soon.

Has anybody done on any good on the Salmo Hornet or Bullhead cranks? Are they worth buying?

Late spring on through fall:1/2Oz original hot n tots. Metallic perch was good, metallic purple with black back was best.

Early spring-spring:
Deep husky jerks: Blue chrome, clown and black chrome

who knows

Can't explain it, but Norman crappie cranks have been working just fine for me the last several seasons. More often than not, they outfish my original Tots, especially earlier in the season.
With a thin braid, I can get them down to about 10 fow or so which is the optimum trolling depth for the off colored reservoirs here in northeast Ohio.
