I'm looking to get a rod for maximum distance casting heavy cranks and double jig rigs.I'll use a long cast reel with some kind of surf rod I guess. Also want to keep it as light as possible and portable so I guess that means two piece. What about the 8ft. Ugly stick rated for 3/4 to 3oz.Just a thought. What do you guys think and thanks for the input.Glen.

Look for an 8.5-9 foot salmon rod rated for 3/4-1 ounce. I can put baits accuratly over 50 yards with ease.

Shimano has a new light saltwater line of rod with one peice up to 7.5
Clarus I beleive. $169 2pc set up also. Falcon has a 7.5 also. Most of the major rod companies are putting out heavy fresh light salt in high end graphites. Chopped down fly rods give you the best butt diameter to tip ratio, but a custom rig $.
