I've recently bought a Falcon Original rod and really like it. It's a 6' ML model. However, I'm wondering if there's a house brand rod that's comparable--at a more resonable cost.

I looked at Cabela's and Bass Pro but without being able to actually feel it, I'm reluctant to buy. Any input is appreciated. Also, what about the reels? Are any of them comparable to, say, a Shimano (Sedona or Symetre)?

Thanks.

I have a couple of BPS rods that bought a couple of years ago. I also have one of their Pro Qualifier reels. All are very nice and I have had no problems.

One more you might consider are the Pro Select series rods fom Gander Mountain. We have three of these rods and like them alot. IM8 graphite, Good quality cork handles and light tips.

I had 4 or 5 Cabela's top of the line 6'-6" 1 piece spinning rods ($150 +/-) and replaced all of them with the Fenwick "Techna" series rods for a little less $$$. The Techna rods are lighter, more sesnitive, have a livelier tip and balance better in my opinion and also have a lifetime guarantee.

Good luck,
