As far as Fenwick rods go......you can't go wrong with any of the rods they make! They have been a quality rod manufacturer for many years and stand behind their rods 100%. I myself use alot of Fenwicks over the years and if I broke one..even one that was discountinued,it was always replaced with the next closest model, for shipping only! How can you go wrong with that? This is the rod of choice for many locals in NW Ontario. The rod is a nice rod and the warranty of five years is great. I have caught thousands of Walleyes on these rods. I have used other rods as well and the Fenwick is as good as some high end rods. I use a stradic 1000FG reel with 8# test. Good outfit.

Walleye 1,

Have used the HMX's for my charter customers for several years. They have held up very well, and have found the quality of Fenwick to be excellent in any of their rods I have purchased. Good Fishing.

I bought a Fenwick Ironhawk about 6 years ago. I liked it so much I bought another. I love them both. I have not ever heard any negative remarks in regards to a Fenwick rod.

I bought one last spring but it looks like we want them for different purposes. Mine is 6 ft. MH and is used for 3/4 or 1 oz. jigging spoons. Appears you want yours for livebait rigging or finesse jigging. I like the rod and it is well put together but because the actions are so different I don't think I can comment on the ML.

if you want a fenwick, the outlet store in spirit lake iowa sells them for CHEAP! technas are $50. the tips are broken of and replaced with another, but it is maybe 6" off the top. i have two Fenwicks and they are great. i can't tell the difference between the broken and the new one.
hope this helped

I too have several Fenwick rods. I use in my guiding business, including 2 of the model your talking about. They have all held up well. I also like the size of there eyes, especially when it's below freezing. Takes longer for them to ice up complely. I'd recommend em and will buy more when the time comes. Hutch
