Been to Life of Riley Resort for years, great people, service, etc. They have a website. If you want e-mail me and I'll tell you about our vacations up there.

I was up on Lake Vermilion last Sept. and we stay at White Eagle
Resort and had a great time. I am going back in July, if you need
info about Lake Vermilion, Hans(black silver) is the guy on this board to ask. Great fishing and great place.

I have been to the "Black Bay Wilderness Resort" and would recommend it highly. Neat and remote, this resort is on Black Bay out of Cook, MN. Good crappie and walleye fishing right in the bay, especially in the spring. Proprietors, George and Sue Kirk, are good people and will see to your needs.
Resort Phone: 1-800-316-8244.

You should enjoy a great time at this resort.

P.S. This Vermilion is spelled with only one L. :)

This would be another good place to search for resorts. I had been going to Vermilion only in the fall until last year when I went opening weekend as well as September. I stayed at Pehrsons Lodge twice last year. It is a very nice, clean, quiet, relaxing place with good dock help for cleaning fish.

I will be going back to Pehrson's for opening and September again this year. Good Luck.

I was just sledding on Vermillion last weekend. I have been going up there for 20 years now. Bayview, Daisy Bay, Everetts Bay, Pehrsons, all good. Avoid End of the Trail. It really depends on where you want to fish, it is not an easy lake to travel end to end.

If you want to know more-let me know. It has turned into an absolutely AWESOME musky lake-and very underrated for muskies.

Jag - Try the whispering winds resort. It's a nice place and near many good fishing spots. You can reach them at
whisperingwindsresort.com Good luck to you. This is definately a good place to go.

I agree, Wispering Winds, is a nice resort. I worked there in the 80's.

Thanks for all the responses. We are short one boat and will need to rent one. Wonder why most of these resorts only carry 15hp motors on such a big lake? jag

If you arent familiar with the lake (like a lot of cabin renters), it is REAL easy to get lost. So if they had people racing around the lake in rentals, they may not find their way back. Also, there isnt any main areas to fish. You dont have to travel far to find fish. One thing that I forget to mention is that there are a lot of very nice private cabins for rent at www.lakevermilion.com. Most resorts up there will rent you a boat, even if you arent staying there.

Creel surveys are conducted on Lake Vermilion as part of the Large Lake Program. Creel surveying is a method of estimating angling pressure and harvest by interviewing anglers and boat counts. Lake V is scheduled for a creel survey two consecutive years out of every six. The next creel surveys are scheduled for 2002 and 2003!!!
