Hello everyone at Walleye Central,

You guys give some great advice and I need some here. My wife and I are going on a joint "vacation," with my in-laws this summer. We are going to Cass Lake in Minnesota the last week in August. We are staying at the Wishbone Resort. Each couple is pulling their own boat up to the lake.

The minute we decided to go my father-in-law began to give some of his "advice," on how to fish the lake because he has been there before. My father-in-law is known to use some rather "unorthodox" methods to catch fish which rarely pay off. He generally has "his way," which is the "correct," way and then there is a bunch of B.S.

So I come to you in seek of help. I am a walleye fanatic and I don't mind catching a few perch or crappies either. We just finally decided to go so I haven't had a chance to buy a Hot Spots map yet. I want to catch fish and if I can do better than my in-laws, all the better. If you can give some general locations or map numbers for this time of year I would be very appreciative.

Thanks,
Brian

Well, if you don't do any good, you can easily haul the boats over to Winni and catch some eyes in the weeds on south Highbanks during that time of year. Many staying at Cass do it.

bdirks,
i fished cass lake 2 summers ago and we had a great time.
there is a guy that guides on the cass lake chain. his name is brian jones phone # 612-730-9620 he runs a guide service called first choice guide service and he took us out for a 4 hour trip that turned into an 8 hour trip for just $120.
and we caught a lot of walleyes. i would say atleast 50 or 75 so many i lost count.
if you dont want to use a guide just east of the island in the center of the lake there is a sunken island that comes up from 100 ft. of water. thats where we trolled the outer edges of that sunken island and caught all the walleyes.
good luck.
oh and we also caught a lot of walleyes on lake andrusia right where the mississippi river flows into it.

Cass isn't my favorite lake to fish but, you can try pike bay on the north east corner

Thanks for the replies. I have heard of Brian and his guide service. I may have to give him a ring.

Thanks,
Brian
