Last week I sought your help on a new rod/reel I was looking to buy. Based on your advice, I purchased a 6' M 1 pc. St. Croix Premier over the weekend, together with a Shimano Stradic reel. I'm very pleased with the unit, but now have to sit and wait for 2 months until fishing season opens.
Thanks all for your advice.

You are going to be happy with that Stradic instead of the Spirex. No more ka-klunk when you set the hook! Nice combo

Hey Peanut, had I known you were going to purchase that combo, I would have given you one free that I'd recently found under an old matress, next to some boots........ah, never mind.

Whoa - talk about deja vu Tom. Suddenly my head filled with thoughts of bait savers, old running shoes, and the smell of dead raccoon.
You started one of the most interesting weeks of my (and probably Fish-on's) life.
Hope all is well....see ya come spring-cleaning time. Hold onto that combo-this time I'm not gonna come for just one thing! (LOL)

That may have been my favorite WC thread of all time. :-)

Two months !??! Sounds to me like you need a "warm" vacation to the Great lakes area. Detroit River in early April would be a great trip and that section of water is open season all year round. Not sure about Ohio waters in Erie but Mi. waters are also open. And you can pick up any promised equipment that is on your list by then. lol.
