I am going to try this on spinner rigs this year. Have never used them before, but read lots of good reports about them. Maybe not as many fish, but they seem to catch bigger ones. Who knows...I am more interested in just trying something new.

What colors would you guys recommed? Do you use a whole crawler or half? I have always used 1/2 a crawler in the past. Any other imput is greatly welcomed.

Thanks

I have used them for 2 years now while my buddy uses real crawlers, both in the same boat just different sides. I have found my catch rate on walleyes to be the same however the number of sheepshead that I catch is down considerably. Plus I never pull in my lines to find that there is no bait on the hooks like happens so many times with real crawlers.

I run the whole crawler on the rig. Ussually I use natural, Black w/red fleck, or watermelon w/red fleck although I do use the chartruese ones at times if the water is dirty enough. This is one thing that I like about using the gulp crawlers - I can change the color of the worm which is something that you can't do with real crawlers.

Are the ones in the bag better than the ones in the jar?

The ones in the jar are extruded whreas the bagged ones are molded. The molded ones run straight as they do not have any curves in them like the jarred ones do.

I've had great luck with the "green pumpkin" and "natural", haven't bought a real crawler in a couple of Years. Bob

I ran the 6" gulp crawlers on harnesses last year and had less than stellar results. We caught VERY few fish on Gulp. Most days we would start out running half the rods with gulp and the other half live crawlers. Live crawlers outfished gulp by a large enough margin that I would change all lines over to live bait. I'm sure it works well on some lakes and situations, it just doesn't happen to be on the lakes I fish.

What I found using these Gulp worms is that I had to upsize my hooks, there is more bait that doesn't compress easily as a real crawler. I normally use #2's and have gone down to #1 and 1/0.
