I've heard that using a small shrimp tail as bait on a jig is the best way to catch walleye...is this true?

And I heard that a dog hair jig (like a bucktail jig) is best.

When I can't find crawdad tails I use shrimp for Perch, they like them. Never caught a walleye using them though...
