I would like to have two sonars working simultaneousness, one on the front and one on the rear of my 20' Pro Elite. Side finder a definit plus!!!

I currently have a Hummingbird Wideeye with 200khz/455khz down and I'm considering the Bottomline with 200khz down and 455khz to the side. I did some calculation on down cone angle overlap with 20 feet of separation and determined I could operate both
to a depth of about 60 feet. Does anyone disagree or think I should
consider other factors. Anyone doing this successfully.

How many having success with two units working simultaneousness and to what depth??? What units are you using and what is the separation?

Thanks,

Randy

Thanks,

Randy

I think that regardless of the coneangle your still gonna get some stray feedback to the machines causing them to not work properly. Because those units work on exactly the same frequency, I can't help but think that will happen. I'm no expert on this matter but there are some pretty knowledgeable folks in this regard on this board who I'm sure will answer this.

Hey Randy: You are ON!!! Good to see you on the site. Is this for the new boat???? We'll have to try that. Maybe some filters can be put in line, if they are run on differant Hz... I'll think about that. Good TO SEE YOU ON....Kaz

I share your concern, however, I see some possiblities..

Do you know anyone doing this with some confidence??

Thanks,

Randy

Put in a pinpoint and you won't have to worry about interference at all!! You can use three different transducers all at once if you wish to.!! I had two different units like you want to do before they always messed with each other. Now I don't have any problems with the pinpoint system. Craig

CJ, I sure like the idea that Pinpoint came up with, but in order for that to happen it seems you MUST also use their trolling motor to network all of those units together. I am looking for a bow unit and found that the Pinpoint still operates at almost the same frequency as my X85.

I want two display units and I want to read the depth at the front and rear of the boat at the same time. This way when I'm fishing with a partner we will each be able to read the depth and fish where we are fishing, them in the back and me in the front!!!!

Thanks,

Randy

I currently run 2 units, one in front and one in back of the boat and so far have not had any crosstalk between the units.I generally don't use both at the same time in water deeper then 40 ft.I also read a article in Bass and Walleye boats on this subject and it was very informative.I have a extra transducer with a narrower cone angle mounted in back for this purpose, so far so good.

What units are you using, what transducers and what separation?

How would you know if there was interference?

Thanks,

Randy

I'm currently using a Global Map 2000 with the SAM-ST 20 degree transducer on the bowmount trolling motor. The dash unit is a Bottomline Tournament Champion 6500. The units (transducers) are 19 ft. apart. Crosstalk shows up on the screens as a clutter of lines and becomes hard to read. The people at Reeds sporting goods helped me get this set up a few years ago and its been working for me real well.

If you are looking to use two units without interference, try two Pinpoints with Insync. You DO NOT have to use their trolling motor to get the benefits. Their Insync technology allows them to run two or more transducers with the same freqency without interference. You can get one of the interference free transducers and attact it to the bottom of your trolling motor, or even get one of the new MotorGuide with the built in transducer. You can also network the two sonar's together and be able to split the sreens to see the front and back of the boat.

do you have a website for Insync????
