A related question to my last post - last year I had many snell hook knots break either right after landing a fish, or after only catching a few fish. This leads me to believe my knot tying leaves something to be desired.

Who has a good description or link for how to properly tie a hook to a snell?

There is a good article on tying crawler harnesses and snelled hooks at this site, also a good place for lots of good tips. www.walleyesinc.com Good fishing to ya.

If the line is breaking, be sure to wet the line when you cinch it down. Mono builds a lot of heat when it's tied. This heat weakens the line causing it to break.

You aren't using flouro are you? Two years ago, I tied hundreds of rigs (Ok maybe 100) using 10lb Vanish. Do you know how hard it is to untie 100 spinner rigs?
