Yeah I know this subject has a Lot of press here, and thats what has raised my interest. But with the stuff as pricey as it is,and no Cabellas that I can go to ,see feel and try the stuff on and check it out myself,I want to order the right one for myself the 1st time. I am thinking of buying the Guidwear insulated Jacket not only as a rain suit used with the bibs but for use as my allaround cool to cold weather fishing jacket whether its raining or not. Would this be good for that? Is it warm enough for all day in a very early spring, late fall cold windy condition (with some approriate thermal undergarments of course)? Is the insulated jacket heavy and bulky,or is it light and flexible enough to wear all the time in cold weather? Also..regarding the bibs, thinking of going with the UNINSULATED bibs
if they have less bulk and more flexibility if they at least will cut the wind. Are they pretty good at that? Or should I go with the insulated bibs too? I would probably not be using the Guidware in warmer weather,as I have some very lightweight gear for that . Thanks for revisiting this subject with me.

I would go with the UNinsulated. I had the same concerns and decieded to go with the uninsulated. guideswear is pretty heavy stuff and I would not want to be wearing it in the summer. So my vote goes to the uninsulated bibs and jacket. Good luck!

I always vote for uninsulated. Just make sure you get Guidewear that is big enough to put stuff on underneath. It gives you the flexibility to use the parka in any weather. For extreem cold get some good polyprop underwear and polartec fleece tops and bottoms. If you get a polartec 200 or 300 jacket to go under the parka you will not get cold. All of the mountain climbers believe in layering and zero cotton for extreem weather.

I have the insulated parka and bibs and love them. With thermal pants you won't get cold. The jacket is warm enough, but the big difference is the gortex. I use the outfit for spring fishing, fall fishing and ice fishing. You won't need anything else. The uninsulated set is fine, just layer well. You can't go wrong buyng the guide wear, and mine is 4 years old.

If the bulk of your use is in the summer, with use in the spring and fall as well, I would go with the uninsulated.

You can always layer, if you need more heat, but it is tough to remove it if you are too hot, but want to stay dry.

I have had both, and now never use the insulated.

Take care
