swimbaits

Hey guys,

I have heard a lot of you talk about using swim baits on weed edges. How do you rig those? Do you put those large plasitcs on jigs or just large hooks? Never used plastic swimbaits before and looking for any advice that I can get.

Use the Storm Wild Eye Swim Shad or the Berkley Power Pogy. These come pre-rigged and the lead is inside the plastic. Both of these are very effective baits. I like the three inch for most situations.

I haven't spent a ton of time fishing swimbaits, but I've always used a fairly large minnow head jig (3/8 - 1 oz) with the ones that don't come internally weighted. I haven't tried them on walleye seriously, only bass and pike.
