Whats your favorite method, bait, fishing pole and rig?

6 1/2 ft pole with 6 pound test and a spreader on the end with a couple lake shiners right off the bottom. If the bite is a bit slow I slowly lift the shiners off the bottom for about a foot and lower it back down if nothing hits. This is for the Western Basin of Lake Erie.
