You will find they do not cast well. Forget about using them in freezing conditions. However with no guides they have little to become snagged in the rod box... the biggest con is running the line through... biggest pro is a nice parabolic bend for trolling. As long as you almost never break of your line the reloading shouldn't be much of an issue. Many just use a snap-swivel on the end of the main line and leave it on there. Have been useing them for 3yrs now, with crankbaits and planner boards. I use 14 lb power pro line which is less abrasive. They send a threader with the rods. They are the only rod I use when trolling. I suggest the med/hvy if you plan on useing planner boards.

I love these rods...trolling only I use the 9' planer rods. The line install at first is a bit tricky, but they are great rods and easy to setup and put away after the initial setup. Leave the swivel at the end and change leaders everytime out, works for me.

Casting would be a trick with these or would they??? Never tried. LOL I only troll with them and use other rods for casting, jigging and slabbing.

Don't plan on using leadcore. A friend of mine who otherwise likes them says they got gunked up using them in water with a lot of algae floating around in Sag. Bay.
