A couple months ago there was a big flurry of activity about the credit bureuas being banned from handing out your credit history freely. There were links to a website to obtain more info etc. The hitch was you had to send a form to some firm that handled that for the bureaus. But the form may ask for some of the very information you do not want spread about. Is this on the up & up?

It seems like a great way to get all the info for allowing someone to clone your existence. Has anyone checked this out? I sure would like to eliminate most of my mail if I could do so safely.

I ran the archives and had no luck so here goes again.

Thanks

I haven't heard much about it recently, but remember hearing something like this on the news. It didn't appear all that secure to me either. As much of a hassle as junk mail is, I would rather just throw it away, than sending out any personal information and worry about getting burned by some identitiy copier.
