Hows the fishing in early july

Planning on trying a trip on the 8th. Maybe to Monroe Michigan or maybe the Port Clinton Area. Does the fishing slow down at all or is early July as good as any time to go. I was planning on trolling for eyes, any ideas on tactics.

Over the last 27 years I have been chartering July has produced more lim**** than any month of the year.(Maybe with the exception of this year) It's a great month in the western basin both on the Canadian and American side.

When people who don't fish Lake Erie much ask what the best time to catch fish is, I always say April..if you like to be cold. My second favorite time is 4th of July give or take. Should be great fishing someplace in the west basin at that time. I'd put in where you can run between West and Middle Sister islands. I have fished that area the entire month of July for the past several years and done very well.
