Anyone have good luck with glow paint jigs (talking glow paint, not the Northland sticks) for deep water jigging (soft water, not hard).

Otter,
I really like them in dark or muddy water conditions! A glow propeller jig can be great too.
A flash on a camera with no film in it or a flashlight work ok to charge them. I know there are specific glow chargers out there now too.

I read a post a while back that someone wrote that said, "If it don't glow it don't go!" Thought it was a pretty good saying. This is the first year for me using glow jigs, my son and I made a few at his request so the jury is still out for me.

I always try to use glow jigs except in clear water and I have had much sucess with them. I have found they really work well with a nitro crawler. I can't imagine what a fish thinks when it sees that:9

Its kinda wierd, sometimes they work, sometimes they dont. I fish regular colors while my partner uses the glow, or vise versa and it is hard to tell with any consistancy.

He kinda looks like a cross of beetlejuice and a glow paint jig!

I usually start any jigging situation out with at least one rod rigged with a glow jig. On cloudy days, dark or dirty water I feel they work a little better. In fact Gopher Tackle is now making two new custom colors for me that I call "Tequila Sunrise", and "Frog-mellon". They have been consistent producers for me on the Saginaw Bay tributaries, and Detroit River as well.
Definately give glow jigs a try the next time you're out, they can really make a big difference in the right conditions!

Agreed. When I start the morning out jigging on the Detroit River, one rod has a glow jig and the other rod has a jig that's 50/50 glow and chartreuse.

LEGEND, try www.herbiesmagicdust.com He has all the colors you need. I picked mine up at the Silverdome boat and fishing show. I think he is located in Chicago Ill. The stuff works great once you get the hang of applying the proper heat to the jig or spinner blade. Hope this helps...><> ><> ><> AL
