Conditions:
Your trolling in 30 feet of water and your marking suspended fish at 18 feet.
Question:
How do you insure you are presenting your bait/lure on their nose.
Describe your terminal tackle and the method used to insure the baits depth!!
Thanks,
Randy
You dig in them jeans, and pull out them greens. $25.00 to be exact, and get a copy of Precision Trolling. Just like all the rest of us. First and best 25 bucks any troller should spend.
Available right here on Walleye Central.

Yes, a copy of Precision Trolling is a must. I have multiple editions which never leave my boat.

If I'm not mistaken that manual does not have every lure in it and it does not cover every application!
Now what do you do??
What if you want to trol a worm harness or spoon with inline weight to get it down??
Thanks,
Randy

ETT just came in with a 100% on the quiz! I'll look at his paper and give the same answer. (cheat, cheat!)

Add oil to pan. Prepare your favorite batter. A bottle of White Zinfandel would be nice.
50/50 method...1 oz snapweight....1 MPH

I do not have the latest edition and I was wondering if I could buy just the updates or do I have to buy the next edition which will probably only have another 15 pages of new baits with depths and speeds.
Or do they have an order they run in, and there is little repetition from one edition to the next.
I agree great info but they quickly become outdated if you like to have a try at new baits they are not in the book.

I agree, go by the book. But if I Forget it, I'll put one rod out with 25ft of line 1oz weight and then 25 more ft of line. On the other I'll add 10ft. And if there are two of us I'll have 2 more rods to try at different levels until I get the right answer.

RandyG.
a. Incomplete information from you so far. Are these supposed to be gamefish from the markings or are they baitfish (easily discernable on most good sonar units)? I'm not interested in trolling for baitfish.
b. What is the typical forage on this body of water? Perch, Cisco (this lake has a maximu depth of 30' - too shallow for Cisco), or Shad?
c. Bait depth already answered - Precision trolling with or w/o snap-on sinkers. What type of terminal tackle depends upon b. and also time of the year (temperature & forage size).

First off I'm not going to put the lure on her nose. I want it a little bit above her. I'm running 30/12 Fireline with a round end snap attached to a deep jr. thunderstick in metallic green with black spots. My Diawa linecounter is spooled full and has been checked to be reading exactly 100 ft. out when I have 100 ft. of line out. I let out 100 of line and my bait should be running 16 ft. down. I only need one line and bait because after I catch one HUGE walleye in Lake Erie I have enough for the whole family. Each bait has it's own dive curve and you will need more or less line out to reach this general depth.
