Good luck getting anything from Microsoft, they can care less about consumers. Lowrance will have to come up with the software fix. Don't you know, Microsoft wants only Microsoft software programs to run with their operating system. If your system is running XP new out of the box then Lowarance will have to upgrade, or did you just upgrade Win98 to XP. The upgrade of 98 with XP has caused several software problems. There is supposed to be download to fix the incompatability caused by the XP upgrade to 98. Or you could put a partition on harddrive, load 98 on that partition , and load Mapcreate on that partition.

Hey
If you are runnung Xp in a new computer...it should have a compatibility program built in it.If you installed Xp on to an older computer, you may have to get an answer from microsoft tec support.
If your computer is new, make sure that when you install the program all windows are closed and you are off line.Go to your desk top and then try to install..go to programs and click RUN.Your compatibility program should take over and reconfigure the program. This will then make it XP capable. Hope this helps!!

Thank you for your inquiry. If the computer is giving an error message such
as "This is not a valid Win 32 application...." and your operating system is
Windows 2000 or XP, please do the following:

Copy the file "mapcreate.exe" from the CD (x:\mapcreat) and paste to the
location where MapCreate is installed (C:\Program Files\Lowrance\MapCreate)
replacing the old file.
Note: "x" should be replaced with the actual drive letter

If problems are still encountered after this function has been completed,
please contact Customer Service at the number shown below. Due to the
complex variables involved in troubleshooting software, it is requested that
you be at your computer if at all possible. A representative will then be
able to assist you.

Thank you for choosing Lowrance.
