Looking at fishing Rainy this spring for walleye and big pike. Woody's seems to be very nice. Not looking for any bashing but wondering if anyone has an opinion. Also, what are the thoughts on Rainy at that time of year? This is the time we would prefer to go.

Thanks,
NC

We stayed at Thunderbird last fall and I was very pleased.

Is the lake marked well? Did you have to go into Canada
to fish?

We day tripped there @Memorial Day. The lake is marked for hazards, in that immediate area. The boundary is not, so plan for that. We did not go into Canada, but from what I hear, there are some places worth visiting for fishing purposes. Different area, not what I expected. Nothing bad, just different. I would like to spend some more time there. Heck of a resource.

Thanks for the info. We have the navionics chips, so that should help a ton. If you don't mind me asking, how shallow were the
walleye when you were there? We are going the 19th - 26th of May and figure they should be pretty shallow still.

The walleye will be from 2-50' in May. On Rainy, you might be able to conver those depths with a 20' cast.

Woody's will be a good spot for you to stay. He has the Pub right on site so there is always info available. Plus a cold beer!

If you have not been to Rainy before you may want to consider either hiring Woody or One Doggie as a guide. Very knowledgeable and a lot of fun to be around. I hired One Doggie for a half day trip last year and learned a ton about the lake, well worth the money I spent.

If you have never been to Rainy before the one must have piece of equipment in my opinion is a camera!

If you want to stay at a resort, book now, this lake fills fast!

Enjoy your trip and let us know how you did!

Thanks for the info. We already booked. Haven't decided on a guide yet. There are 3 of us which makes guiding difficult. Probably spend a day or 2 on the water and see how things go, then make our decision.

Really appreciate the info.

Merry Christmas!
