All I have is spinning gear and never used bait casting or trolling reels. What I'm looking for is 2 rod and reel combos for trolling crank baits for Walleye and use this same combos for slipsinker rigs for big cats. Something in the $100 each price range.

If you would like to place items on the swap board, please register.
Something that comes to mind is an ABU 5600 in C3 or C4 or even the newer C5 (different model name now, I think). You can find these in a combo pack with several rods makes and sizes, for right around the $100-$120 mark each. You can get a lot of re-use with setups like this, for many species. Reeds or Bass Pro or Cabelas. I would go medium heavy (in general) and I will say I have some (newer and rather spendy) fiberglass trolling rods that kick butt for trolling.
If you are going to troll a lot, then a Diawa 17 sealine can be foundin a combo for about $120 or so bucks, or check the swap board. Line counters are great.
Good luck,

Actually, if I were getting a rig for trolling crankbaits and also to use as a slip sinker, I would go with a Diawa SL17 line counter reel. It is a touch bulky for use as a slip sinker reel, but it will work fine.
However, when running crankbaits, the line counter is so useful so as to overshadow the other short falls.
The optimum way to go is with the SL17 for use when trolling, and then go with a smaller baitcaster that casts well, with a flipping lever to use as a slip sinker reel. Both of these outfits can use a medium light moderate action rod of 7-8 feet in length.
Take care
