Any reason why you can't?

Not a one, unless you're trolling for musky.

Thats all we used until the line counters were added to the spread.Even used them on the downriggers too. Those mitchell 300"s took a beating and still work.

That's all I use is spinning gear. I've caught some nice muskies and northerns trolling as well as casting. I've even caught them while trolling for walleyes with a 3/8 oz jig and twister tail. I do always use a steel leader.

Use them all the time. I own one line counter, the other holder holds a spinning rig. I catch, inadvertantly, around a couple dozen muskies a year. Nothing huge, they generally max out around 40 inches or so. No steel leader and it's very rare to lose a bait as nearly all are hooked just inside the lip. The baits, usually Hot n Tots, Rogues, and Norman crappie cranks, are rarely engulfed, and to be perfectly honest, the fight is somewhat sluggish. I actually caught, not snagged, on a Norman crappie crank, a 20 lb.+ carp, and it fought much harder than the muskies. Much more stamina.
