I'm going to add a subsurface speed and temperature measuring system next season. Any feedback from users of the Sub Troll 900 or the Cannon Speed and Temp units as to usefulness and/or reliability.

Search glangler.com for details on previous posts. Current preferences there are Depth Raider & Sub Troll. Some complaints on the Cannon SNT but I do like the addition features.

got my sub-troll three years ago and WON'T go in the water without it. Easy to read, one battery lasted me all season, although i'm only a weekend fisherman, have it mounted in the back on the ledge under my transom so while i'm back rigging rods I don't have to turn around towards the dash to see it. only problem I had was because of my downriggers. I'm using walkers (which I love also by the way) but the tip pulley is mounted in a plastic housing that extended around the pulley too far, so the blowback in my cable was cutting into the plastic which wore the insulation on the downrigger cable of the sub-troll. The same thing was happening on the other rigger without the sub-troll so I just cut a notch in the housing to allow for the cable blowback. Haven't had a problem since. Even when I'm trolling shallow areas my sub-troll is in the water. Has been a life saver up on ontario for salmon. Good Luck with whichever one you get

I have a Sub-Troll and wouldn't be without it. I've been using it for about 5 years and it's definitely increased my salmon catch. It hasn't given me any problems at all. Don't know a lot about the other models, I choose the Sub-Troll because they've been around forever and are proven.

I had a lot of trouble with my Cannon unit. It's run good for two years now though. It had to make two trips back to the factory before it ever worked though.

If I were buying today it would be a depth raider.
