I have seen these but I have no real experience with them. I am mostly interested in the Walleye baithooks and the Aberdeen hooks. Are you a believer or is it a cool looking hook with no real advantage? What are your experiences?

Thanks,
Brian

I have poured a number of jigheads using this hook. The jigs were used for walleye and crappie. One thing I noticed was it was easier to unhook the fish - you just push backward on the head, and the hook sort of pops/slides right out. I don't know if this means the fish becomes unhooked easier before you want it to, that is, while fighting it, or not. I did open the gap a little, and bent the point sideways a little, when it seemed I was loosing too many bites.

You got to admit, it is a cool looking hook, but I'm not sure it is any better than any other. I will admit, the point is much sharper right out of the box than any other jighead style I've seen; this could be a positive factor for those who do not diligently sharpen their hooks before/during use. I probably will not use many more, as they don't seem to offer any distinct advantage, at least with jigheads.

I use nothing but sickle hooks. I also pour my own jigs with them. I tie harnesses up with them and also change the trebles to sickle hooks. The best part of the hook is the bend in it. It will hold fish better. When you use live bait, it stays on better. When you fish with leeches they won't ball up on you and try to climb your line. The bait will stay in the "V" part of the hook exposing the point of the hook all the time. With the unique design of this hook allows for thinner wire to be used for the hook. I have done very well in tournaments using this hook.

As stated above; SHARP POINT! I believe it is one of the sharpest right out of the box as any. The trebles are a toss up with "triple grips" in IMHO. The live bait hooks are great for leeches, minnows and crawlers.

I haven't used the sickle hooks very much, but agree the Matzuo hooks are the sharpest I've seen for making your own jigs. Great Hooks!

I have used Matzuo hooks for sometime now, have had nothing but good experiences with them. I was a little skeptical at first but now I would use nothing but Matzuo hooks, and yes I do believe they are some of the sharpest out of the packages.

I use them for harnesses in sizes 1,2&4... The red octopus sicle ones have a great color to them... They really bite in and hold well. They are very sharp and I haven't lost fish using them. I would recommend them. Paul
