I've been using my bowmount for boat control when vertical jigging in the Detriot river.Would I have more boat control with a transom mount and if so which one? Thanks!

many fish the river using transom mounts and small tillers to stay vertical. usually you present the transom to the current and control is increased. the downside is that with one hand on the control you can only use 1 rod. a dead stick is an option but you have to set it high to avoid snagging on structure as you drift.

when we lose the 2nd. amendment the others will be history too!

if your using a foot controlled bow mount, with the bow into the wind you'll have better control. even with only one rod you can concentrate on your line and you'll learn to move your foot to whcih direction you need the boat to move without even looking at anything but the line. a hand controlled unit requires alot more movement wither bow or transom to chase your line..:driver:

I use a bowmount Auto-pilot/ co-pilot. Excellent way to stay vertical.

I also see guys using thier big motor, just keep popping in an out of gear.

I use both a bow mounted auto pilot for steering control and the kicker for matching the current. Works for me!

The best weapon I have found for Total Boat Control is from
Re-actionsystem.com It offers you the ability to combat wind, current, or waves with the tap of your tap switch. The
Re-actionsystem overrides the pedal speed setting and goes directly to the variable speed setting while your foot continues steering and controlling the boat. 2 speed automatic, hands free fishing. No more adjusting speeds! Dan Palmer work2fishnhunt@insightbb.com

Thanks for the reply! I think I'll stay with what I have. Seems to work in most conditions. Have to work a little more at other times. The nature of the beast! Don't mine working a little if their hitting. If not,I go home! For the price of that Re-action system I could just about buy a transom mount and work from either end to suit the need. Thanks again.

The best of the boat control fishermen can fish using either the front or back, equally as well.
