How do the lowrace units with internal antennas work. I have an h2o and it seems to pickup fine.
Thanks

My hand held Lowrance 100 works great. NEVER ever had a problem.

I was in a boat for a week with the 334 lowrance on the dash this past fall. That unit had problems constantly trying to pick up satalites and staying locked on.

So the units with the internal antennas do not lock on as well. I have a H2O and have not had a problem. But a unit such as a LMS-522c I could expect it to lose location.

Which units are you refering to? If it's the 334 do a search you will get a very good idea how that unit has performed. If and when it does what they say it will do, it will be a great unit. I was there guinea pig last year for a coulpe months. Traded the 334 in for the 332. Nice little unit.

I think you guys are kind of talking apples and oranges. They're both fruit but different kinds of fruit. Hand held GPS's have the advantage of being used from a position of a clear view of the sky where some thing like the 334 is working inside a hole. I wonder if part of the problem with the 334's was what was around the unit where it was installed. Could it have been the ones having problems were installed in a spot that was surrounded by metal gauge housing, which will block about any signal, and interference generated by them.
Even an inch or two difference in location might make the difference on whether it receive's well or not.

My H2O will work in my house and in the cab of my truck, going down the road. This is why I asked the question.

Ice fishing, we do not get enough ice here in KS for my fat a$$ to go on. We still have open water and if the wind would slow down we would get into more crappie. Guess the answer to my question is not to go with an internal antenna unit.
Thanks
