What kind of boat would you get, for tournament fishing?
That kind of depends. Where you are going to be fishing, what species, your budget, your preference, all are important. I think alot of folks will agree that a Ranger 620 is a good all round walleye tournament boat, but there are many other excellent choices too. Lund, Crestliner, Warrior, Skeeter, Alumacraft, Yar Craft, just to name a few. All of them make good Walleye tournament boats.
If you can be more specific about your needs, It'll be easier to make a suggestion.

Just picked up my new Lund 1900 IFS Pro-V. This is a sweet rig. I will be tournament fishing from it. For the $$$ I would dare to say the quality and reliability can't be matched. There is a reason that airplanes are still riveted together and Lund boats are the same way.

You can get twenty different opinions and they may all be the wrong boat for you. Best thing to do is go to a bunch of different dealers and see the boats for yourself. Find out what you like and don't like about each of the candidates. Can you live with a couple minor faults in this boat because of the major things you do like about it or are they so bad you'd never want that boat. You have to find the boat that fits your fishing style and wants in a boat. Is rod storage more important or dual livewells? Tiller or remote steering wheel? Do you fish big waters or little remote lakes? These are questions and opinions that only you can answer. Don't buy a boat just because SUPERTROLLER told you to. (Mine's a LUND) lol.

You need to do your homework. Are you using it just for tournies? Whats your budget? You need to check resale value. What kind of boat is easiest to maintain. There are alot of things that need to be addressed, but most importantly is what you feel comfortable with. I'm a Lund man myself but that is my choice.
Good luck on whatever you buy.
