Ok guys this is the situation, I have a 10 year old Humminbird 3D Panorama. I think it lies(wife thinks so too when it comes to say there's fish)and I also believe that the technology has improved since it was made(or so we hope). I like the #D aspect of this finder, I just wish that the 3D view was more finer, maybe the newer Humminbirds are better?

I need suggestions for a new one. Makes available to me here in Winnipeg, are Garmin, Eagle, Lowrance, Humminbird and maybe Raytheon.
I don't need GPS combo, I'll get a separate unit-hand held.

Is a sidefinder worth the while? I wouldn't mind one on the trolling motor and if it is worthwhile which one? And If I did purchase a sider, what would be a good choice for the second one on the console?

What about separation? You know when a fish is hugging the bottom, which finder gives the best indication?

Let me know guys and gals

Much Appreciated.

Gary

Hi gary others may have some specific advise on sidefinders and so on,.but I might also advise you to use the search engine here and enter some of those names,..ie zercom, garmin etc,..also search the archives,..probably more discussion than you care to read at one time ,. but it will get you started on some of the opinions from the good people here.
