Need some input on the reconditioned
trolling motors that Cabela's is selling
at some real good prices. Has anyone
bought one of these? Would you recomend?
Was it in like new condition? All
comments, pro and con, will be
appreciated. Been looking at the 65 AP.
Thanks in advance. Doc

A few of us bought them over the last few months.

Mine looks brand new except for the recond. sticker on the motor head.

Do a search of the archives using recond. minnkota as a search criteria and you will see a bunch of posts.

I am going to finish installing it today.

Doc - I installed my reconditioned 65AP last weekend. Looks brand new and seems to work fine. Hope to have it in the water next weekend.

I purchased a reconditioned Genesis motor last year from Cabelas. It was in new condition and no problems.

to bad they were not just 300-400 dollars, we all don't have that kind of money to buy brand new ones.

Recond motor bought 1/24/02 looked like it had never been used. Switch for Autopilot function was DOA. Fixed in one week. Only used twice. Increase in max. speed from 42 lb to 65 lb was from 2.2 mph to 3.1 or so. Not sure, but two old unmatched batteries now seem to last longer than when I was getting running them one 12 volt at a time @ 1.3 mph speeds. Never had any problems with prev. 12 volt AP or other Minnkota's.

Question is whether an extra yr warranty & a (drift sock or rain suit?) is worth the extra $230-240. Wasn't for me. One thing for sure, enough people on this board bought them that you'll certainly here about it if there are problems! I don't expect any.

I bought two over the last 3 years(bought a new boat)and never had any problems with them. Even if you do have problems take it back to Cabela's. By now ever one knows their return policy.

A co-worker of mine buys his in Mankato, right at the factory. No problems and gets them at fair prices.
